Childhood Trauma Practitioner's Assembly

The theme for this year’s Childhood Trauma Practitioner’s Assembly is: Supporting Children of Deployed Parents: Lessons Learned–Helpful Strategies. This four-day conference will focus on providing practitioners with a variety of practical strategies for those who work with military families via 3-hour workshops.

If you don't work with military families you can attend Level-1 and Level-2 TLC Certification courses as well as other 3-hour workshops on various non-military trauma and loss subjects.

Receive Your Certification at the Assembly

Level-1 Certification

Thousands of helping professionals throughout the United States and Canada have already received their Level-1 TLC Trauma and Loss Specialist Certification. TLC has made it easy for YOU to receive Level-1 Certification this summer by attending the following:

  • Supporting Children of Deployed Parents
  • Children of Trauma
  • Structured Sensory Interventions
  • After the Crisis OR Trauma Debriefing and Self Care
  • PLUS complete a TLC at-home essay exam AND a 6-hour TLC online course of your choice.

After completing Level-1 Certification you may use the credentials “CTS” which stands for Certified Trauma Specialist.

Level-2 Certification

If you already have earned your Level-1 Certification and are interested in advancing, you can obtain your Level-2 Trauma and Loss Consultant Certification at the Assembly by attending the following:

  • Supporting Children of Deployed Parents
  • Using Children’s Drawings in Art and Play Therapy
  • A Neurodevelopment Lens Into Play-Based Trauma Intervention
  • Assembly Workshop 1F AND Workshop 1G OR 2G
  • PLUS complete the TLC online course Art, Play, Music, Drama & Bibliotherapy AND the Level-2 at-home essay exam

If you have already taken other Level-2 courses, please call TLC for information on how to complete your Level-2 Certification.

After completing Level-2 Certification you may use the credentials “CTC” which stands for Certified Trauma Consultant.

Level-3 Certification

Do you already have your Level-1 and Level-2 Certification? Are you ready to progress to the next level? To earn your Level-3 Trauma and Loss Consultant Supervisor Certification attend any two full days of Workshops at the Assembly and the following:

  • Give a 3-hour presentation at the Assembly (get your application in for next year!)
  • PLUS complete a case study or essay exam

After completing Level-3 Certification you may use the credentials “CTC-S” which stands for Certified Trauma Consultant Supervisor.

Location

The Assembly will be held at the Macomb County Intermediate School District’s (MISD) new Educational Service Center. MISD is located at 44001 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038-1100. Parking is free. Click here for more information on the Assembly location and lodging.

Ground Transportation

The Assembly site and hotels are a 50-minute drive from Detroit-Metro Airport and are very easy to find. We recommend that you rent a car. We DO NOT recommend that you take a taxi, as the cost will be prohibitive.  Click here for more ground transportation information.
