Congratulations to TLC's 2010 Awardees!

Consultant Supervisor of the Year

Dr. Linda W. Peterson-St.Pierre

Dr. Peterson is an emeritus professor of Pediatrics and Family Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine where she taught medical students at all levels (four years) as well as interns and residents from 1978-2004. She now conducts a clinical practice as a marriage and family counselor in Reno NV. Dr. Peterson works primarily with children and families in the chaos of divorce or other post traumatic stress situations. She has had a forensic practice for 30 years and is certified in mediation, collaborative divorce and custody evaluation. She has been associated with the National Trauma and Loss Center since the publication of her book: Children in Distress: An Art Screening Tool (1996). She considers the TLC faculty her most potent inspiration. In 2009-2010, she completed an online course called Healing the Healer: The Power of Story for therapists and teachers; and Write Out Loud for children and non-deployed parents in the Military. As an aside, she is putting her court experiences in a booklet called: Horrensic Cases. The first line reads: “I am sitting in a leather chair that is too big for me and I feel as small as the young child I am here to defend!” Linda has given numerous workshops nationally and internationally, but considers those for TLC the most fun! She has a Masters degree in social work from Wayne State University where she also received her bachelor of social work. School Specialist of the Year

Walter Hutchison, BA, MEd

Walter earned his Bachelor’s degree at Trinity University and his Master’s of Education at Ross State University. He  has been a middle school counselor in the Comal Independent School District (CISD) located in New Braunfels, Texas for nine years. He serves as one of CISD’s “Trauma Response Team” (TRT) leaders. The team is called into action when serious accidents occur, as well as for suicide and other traumatic situations. Hutchison is thankful the TRT is not called into action more often. He says the TLC Certification training has been an invaluable resource and he now feels prepared to respond when needed.
